Whether you’re arriving by car, public transport or on foot, the Augustusmarkt is easily accessed due to its central location on Dresden‘s Hauptstraße.

Arriving by car
Highway A4, exit Dresden-Hellerau, B170 towards Dresden-Zentrum, Carolaplatz; parking: Königstraße or the parking building on Metzer Straße
Arriving by public transport
Train: Neustadt train station, connecting with trams 3, 6, 11 to Alberplatz
Tram: Lines 4 and 9, stopping at Neustädter Markt: Can’t be missed, as it is right by the Golden Rider statue
Lines 3, 6, 7, 8, 11 Albertplatz, cross the intersection, towards Gomondaiplatz
On foot
From the historic centre (Altstadt)
Pedestrians will see the shimmering Golden Rider statue – one of Dresden’s most famous landmarks – from the Terrassenufer on the southern banks of the Elbe. It is at the base of this horseman statue of Augustus the Strong that the Augustusmarkt begins. Walking over the historic Augustusbrücke bridge, which shares its namegiver (Augustus the Strong) with the market, takes you to the heart of the action at the Neustädter Markt.
From the new town (Neustadt)
Albertplatz is the Neustadt’s main access point, and also marks the start of the Augustusmarkt. Gomondaiplatz is barely 5 minutes away, and acts as the northern end of the festive shopping strip. It’s impossible to get lost.
